Meet the Presenter: Neda Shamie, M.D.
Dr. Neda Shamie is an ophthalmologist specializing in corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery. She received her medical degree from UCSF in 1998 followed by residency in Ophthalmology and fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Laser Refractive Surgery from UCI.

Recognized as an expert in advanced corneal transplantation, Dr. Shamie lectures nationally and internationally and leads courses teaching fellow surgeons. She routinely performs the full array of corneal transplantations including endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK and DMEK), deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty or DALK (for keratoconus and corneal scars), laser assisted corneal transplant, and artificial corneal transplant. In approaching each patient’s corneal disease in a customized way, replacing only the diseased layer, she offers optimal results, and rapid visual recovery.

Additionally, Dr. Shamie is expertly skilled in laser cataract and refractive surgery and takes time to guide her patients in choosing the approach best suited for them. She also emphasizes proper diagnosis and effective treatment of dry eyes, and other common eye conditions.

Prior to joining the Advanced Vision Care team, Dr. Shamie was Associate Professor at the USC Eye Institute and served as the Medical Director of their Center in Beverly Hills. She is an active member of numerous ophthalmic societies, has served on the Cornea Clinical Committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and was the President of the Los Angeles Society of Ophthalmology. Dr. Shamie has published in peer reviewed journals, written book chapters, and has been voted by her peers to be among America’s Top Doctors.

In her spare time, she loves creating lasting memories with her husband, two daughters, family and friends.
